Qingyun Cave · Songs Above the Clouds is located in Yiyang, Hunan. It is an unprecedented large-scale immersive light and shadow show inside a natural karst cave, combining Qu Yuan’s Songs of Chu classic Nine Songs with cutting-edge digital technology. Set within a cave formed over hundreds of millions of years, this project transforms the space into an immersive world of mythology. Using projection mapping, light and shadow blend seamlessly with the cave’s natural rock formations, with vibrant colors flowing across the textured surfaces. Skies, deities, battles, and rituals unfold before visitors’ eyes, as if stepping into a poetic, fantastical realm from millennia ago, bringing to life the grandeur of ancient legends.The viewing path connects a series of breathtaking scenes:“Hao Tian Mirror” is suspended high above, reflecting the heavens as nebulae swirl slowly, like the eye of the cosmos watching over all things.“Nine Songs Theater” immerses the audience in a fierce battle between a dragon and Qingyun, where flames, storms, and torrents weave together. Projections dance wildly across the cave walls, evoking the chaos of a mythical war.“Demon-Sealing Sword” glows brightly, thrust deep into the rock, sword energy rippling outward and splitting darkness, with cracks spreading across the cave, as though sealing away restless evil forces.“Prayer Platform” bathes visitors in gentle golden light as echoes of whispered wishes create a mystical, ritualistic atmosphere.“Spirit Orchestra” brings forth dazzling, otherworldly spirits through radiant projections; they dance gracefully with the music, wrapping the entire scene in a dreamlike glow reminiscent of a divine celebration.In this 360-degree immersive dreamscape, imagery, music, and space merge flawlessly.
