About

We were invited to participate in the 2023 Berlin Light Festival, creating a large-scale light art work on the Berlin TV Tower around the theme Colors of Life. The story begins in a mysterious magic forest and extends into five chapters: the breath of nature, the energy of the earth, the relics of the ocean, and the wonders of fire. From the perspective of nature, five marvelous and magnificent forest worlds are constructed. The four elements of wind, earth, water, and fire are given life through light and shadow, as flowers, oceans, civilizations, flames, and crystals intertwine to form a magical kingdom of spirits, leading the audience deep into the forest to experience the infinite possibilities of life. The Berlin TV Tower, the carrier of the work, rises to a height of 368 meters, 45 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower. Its unique reflective quality transforms it into a ladder to the universe. All imagery follows an upward growth and upward movement in dynamic design, symbolizing the journey of life. The spire represents the end of the universe and the eternal heavenly realm. Along this celestial path, humanity continually encounters and parts from all things under heaven, where blossoms and civilizations intertwine and joy and longing converge.Artist Gong Zhen entrusted the memory of his loved ones to this work, taking Heaven, Earth, and Humanity as the philosophical starting point of the Three Realms. The TV Tower is transformed into a bridge connecting all beings. Amid starlight and flowing radiance, the audience seems to step into a dreamlike river of life, perceiving the beauty and eternity of existence in the brilliance of light.
