About

Three-Body Signal is an exclusive architectural mapping work created by SKGPLUS for the 2026 Zsolnay Light Festival in Pécs, with Pécs Cathedral as its projection carrier. Centered on the 120th birth anniversary of Op Art pioneer Victor Vasarely, this festival develops creations around two core concepts Plastic City and Polychrome City. The work integrates the master`s visual thoughts with the cosmic system of the science fiction work The Three-Body Problem, building an artistic dialogue across different cultures.Vasarely advocates breaking fixed boundaries between architecture and vision to turn space into reshaping fluid carriers, which perfectly matches the high-dimensional cosmic view in The Three-Body Problem. The work disassembles the cathedral facade with minimalist industrial visuals, and interprets that space can be folded and rewritten through dynamic light, eliminating the static solemnity of historical relics. Besides, it adopts color geometry and optical illusion from Op Art, takes color as communication medium for interstellar civilizations, and converts cosmic signals and high-dimensional information into smooth visual rhythms, enabling audiences to perceive the fundamental logic that the world consists of information.Op Art exposes inherent limits of human vision, echoing the core idea from The Three-Body Problem that what humans observe is merely projection of high-dimensional world. Black-white geometry and distorted storyboards restore classic optical experiments, and all deformation and flicker effects on the cathedral directly visualize high-dimensional space. The creation inherits Vasarelys idea of art democratization, weakening the religious sublimity of architecture and turning light art into shared public experience. The whole piece adopts three progressive chapters Cosmic Fluctuation Dark Forest and Dual-Vector Foil, narrating the full process of signal reception space reconstruction and dimensional collapse. This work belongs to the teams representative Signal Series, whose creations have been exhibited at world top light festivals and won multiple international awards.
