The Chongqing International Light Art Festival (CILAF) is one of China`s most representative urban light and art festivals. It is held in Chongqing, a city of 32 million people known for its unique three dimensional topography and magical urban landscape. Building on the city`s distinctive spatial character and cultural atmosphere, CILAF has successfully been held four times since its inception.The festival consists of multiple sections, including art installations and a mapping competition, with the international mapping competition serving as the central highlight. The festival is curated by Zhou Bo, with Gong Zhen as curator of the mapping section. Each year, the competition invites submissions from artists, designers, creative studios, and university teams worldwide, encouraging them to create works using architectural projection technology. The focus is on combining academic rigor with artistic innovation, providing mapping artists with a genuine platform for creation and competition.CILAF attracts over 200,000 on site visitors annually and has generated more than 40 million online views and interactions. It has become a key benchmark project for digital art and public cultural initiatives in China`s urban spaces.Now the event has been upgraded to the Asia International Mapping Art Contest, a premier Asia-based global competition dedicated to advancing the innovation and implementation of immersive digital light art. Our vision is to bring light to more cities and illuminate more corners. Adopting a touring model, it is untethered from a single host city, using replicable modular carriers for joint screenings across multiple locations. Decoupled from traditional light festivals, we build a lightweight, sustainable IP. Through city licensing partnerships, award-winning works grace commercial spaces, cultural landmarks and public venues, letting every beam of creative light warm hearts and brighten cities.
